Sancaklar Mosque

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

Today, I will carve up about the underground mosque which is Sancaklar Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. It was first underground mosque that has been constructed in Turkey’s Buyukcekmece district at the year of 2012 and has won the first place in the World Architecture Fest Competition for religious places.

The aim of built this mosque is to avoid the shortage of mosques in the area. The mosque located on 1200 square meters under the ground is enlightened by lead lanes and sunshine to cast a spiritual environment. It offers a place for more than 650 worshippers. As being the world’s first underground mosque, the Sancaklar Mosque was designed without a minaret or a curved. Turkish firm Emre Arolat architects used a combination of light grey stone and reinforced concrete to construct this mosque.

That’s all until now. See you in the next entry. Bye. Assalamualaikum.
